UPDATE!UPDATE!UPDATE!
As some of you may have seen in Fridays Worcester Evening News the Salvation Army has made it there business to discredit the Worcester Zombie Walk & its fundraising and put a halt to the event. A report on the whole sordid business can be found elsewhere on this page. CHECK IT OUT. Needless to say the reports accusations are completely untrue and the event will still be going ahead in full.

WORLD ZOMBIE DAY
Monny's Mortuary is happy to announce it is organising a Zombie Walk as part of World Zombie Day. Keep checking back with this page for updates and details.

WHAT IS WORLD ZOMBIE DAY?
World Zombie Day (WZD) is an international event helping to raise money and awareness for charities such as World Hunger. So far 45 cities around the globe are holding Zombie Walks and Monny's Mortuary is organising one in Worcester.
We are also attempting to break the world record for most zombies mobilised in one day.
The more people involved the better.
Not only is there the zombie walk, but there will also be stalls selling Movie and Halloween related goods, a raffle with some great Horror Movie Prizes and horror movie celebrities for signings.
We are also in talks with The Odeon, Worcester to try and secure a one off screening of a zombie film for those taking part in the day.

WHEN IS WORLD ZOMBIE DAY?
World Zombie Day is held on Sunday October 26th, between 11am and 2pm

WHERE IS THE WORCESTER ZOMBIE WALK?
The sign in and congregation point is outside VIDEODROME, Broad Street, Worcester.

HOW DO I GET INVOLVED?
Everyone, no matter how young, old or living impaired, can take part. First off let us know you want to take part. Below is a contact form to fill in, to let us know you are interested. There will also be flyers handed out around the city and are available from Videodrome. Fill one in and return it to Videodrome.
It's that easy. Get dressed up (and made up if you can) as a zombie and come on down to the event.
You can lend your support in a variety of ways.
1) Come along on the day and join the walk.
2) If you're a member of a club or organisation (cubs, guides, Masons etc.) get them involved too.
3) Buy a Worcester Zombie Walk T-Shirt. Available exclusively from Monny's Mortuary.

IMPORTANT!
Everyone signing up for the walk in advance either on the web or at Videodrome will automatically be entered into a monthly prize draw to win some fantastic zombie prizes.

THE CHARITY
All funds raised by the event will go to NABD (National Association For Bikers With Disabilities)

ON THE DAY
Sign in for the walk will begin at 11am outside Videodrome, Broad Street. It is important that everyone walking signs in as the total will go towards breaking the world record. At 12 Noon the walk will begin.
On completion of the walk the raffle will be held.
Celebrity signings will be inside Videodrome, details of who and when as we get them.
Stall opening and closing times to be confirmed.

I CAN'T DO ZOMBIE MAKE UP!
On the day a small crew will be doing zombie make ups for those who need it. There will be a charge of £3 per make up. If you have any questions about how to achieve your zombie look go along to Masquerade (Unit 12, Lowesmoor Wharf, Worcester) and they'll be happy to help with advice and supply all you'll need to get that undead appearance.

THE ROUTE
Beginning in Broad Street, the zombie horde will move upto Crowngate. We will make our way through the Crowngate and exit onto the High Street besides W H Smiths. Shuffle along the High Street before turning left onto Pump Street then down into the Shambles. Follow the Shambles down to Church Street. Up Church Street back onto the High Street then back down Broad Street to where we began at the Seventh Gateway To Hell (aka Videodrome) where we shall consume the flesh of the living.

RULES AND REGULATIONS
As we would like to make this an annual event we want everything to go as smoothly as possible so here are a few tips on making this a good day for everyone.
During the event participants are encouraged to remain in character as zombies and to communicate only in a manner consistent with zombies (such as grunts, groans and slurred moans calling for “brains”.)

ZOMBIE RULES OF CONDUCT
1. Use the "haunted house" rule in that you are not to touch anyone.
2. Do not attempt to scare anyone who is not a willing participant. If anyone is freaking out, turn and shamble in the opposite direction. Avoid confrontations!
3. Stay on the sidewalk unless crossing the street. When crossing, it's OK to "break character" and cross quickly. Think fast "New Dawn of the Dead" zombies verses the slower "Old Dawn of the Dead" zombies when crossing the street. Blocking traffic is a crime and anyone doing so could be arrested.
4. No drugs. None. Forget it.
5. No alcohol outside the bars. This will get you a nice fine.
6. No littering, destruction of property, or any other illegal activity. Pretend the site where you hold your walk is your own neighborhood and show the utmost respect. Remember, the media will be watching us (along with the police) and this event could get world wide news coverage. Let's put on a good show.
7. Depending on where you hold your walk, keep in mind you might be asked for a picture ID at the bars and your zombie face might not match your picture ID. If you are refused entry, please understand the doorman is only doing his job.
8. Please do not attempt to push your way into any business if you are not welcome.

WORCESTER EVENING NEWS - FRIDAY 19TH SEPTEMBER

WATCH OUT FOR UNAUTHORISED COLLECTORS OF TWO CHARITIES
Residents are being warned about possible bogus callers collecting money on behalf of two charities.
The Salvation Amry and County Air Ambulance said they have become aware of people collecting money linked to an event called Worcester Zombie Walk.
In a joint statement both charities said they were not officially linked to or support the event. It said : "We are disappointed that the event organisers have used our logos to promote this event without our permission.
They have not made any contact with either charity and had they done so we would have declined there offer.
Official Salvation Army personel are currently collecting for the annual appeal in the area, donations of cash only in sealed boxes or official predelivered Belief In Action envelopes.
These annual appeal donations are solely used to fund Salvation Army social and community work in Worcester and across the country to help vulnerable people in need.
The County Air Ambulance Chairty funds 3 aircraft and crew in the West Midlands. It is concerned with saving lives and does not wish to be associated with any event or organisation, which perports to celebrate death."
People are being urged not to make donations to any unauthorised collectors but instead notify the police of any suspicious fundraising activities.

Monny's Mortuary was not contacted to comment on the problem or by either charity to respond to the claims which are all completely untrue. A full account of the truth can be found on this page.

THE TRUTH OF THE SITUATION

Unfortunatley we have had problems with one of the original charities we initially had permission from, The Salvation Army, who we were to collect non-perishable food items for.
In mid-July we contacted The Salvation Army, the premise of the day was explained to the 'gentleman' over the telephone and he agreed to the charity accepting the food stuffs for redistribution in the Worcester area and for us to use the charities logo on the posters and flyers used to raise awareness of the event. Due to the fact that he was at home at the time he did not have the reg. charity number to hand but should we need it we should contact him again and he would get it for us. (We have requested an itemised bill from BT to prove the phonecall was made, as it has been claimed by the person in question that no contact was made.)
However on Thursday 18th September we recieved a phone call from Worcester Police, saying they had had a Captain Alan Donaldson of the Worcester branch of the Salvation Army at the police station complaining that The Salvation Army had not given permission for us to raise money for their charity or to use their logo on our promotional materials. The head office of The Salvation Army had also been contacted and Mr Donaldson denied having any contact with us as the organizers of this event, despite the telephone conversation we'd had two months earlier.
We have had no attempt from The Salvation Army to get in touch with us. They claim that they had no way of contacting us despite the website being in large letters on the flyers and posters. Later it was claimed that they had been on the website but could find no way of contacting us there, despite there being contact forms on both the home page and the World Zombie Day page (aswell as other pages on the site.) The same morning I recieved an email from Worcester Police Station sent using the very online forms that the Salvation Army could not find.
As soon as we were aware of the situation we contacted The Salvation Army and informed them we would remove their logo from all of our promotianal materials and the event would have no more to do with their charity. We tried to explain what had happened but Commander Samual Edgar (in charge of the Midlands branch of the charity) would not accept that one of his colleagues had made the mistake and has attempted to lay blame with us. On subsequent phone calls made to the Salvation Army headquaters Commander Edgar has refused to speak to us. We also attempted to contact Alan Donaldson, leaving a message with our telephone number, to contact us to straighten out any grievenses.
The Salvation Army also contacted the County Air Ambulance Charity and claim we had also used there logo without permission to promote the event. This charity also contacted the police to issue a complaint. However we contacted the charity and the police and explained the reason we did not have permission to use the County Air Ambulance Charity logo and had not contacted them was because we were raising money for the County Air Ambulance Fund and it was there logo we were using on the promotional material with their consent.
However this did not seem adequate to Cpt Donaldson who then proceeded to harass anybody connected with the event and made false accusations to various official bodies. Neither was it good enough for the Salvation Army or County Air Ambulance Charity who then issued a joint statement to the local newspaper that was not only completely untrue but also damaging to the charity event and slanderous as a whole.
The paper though has agreed to run numerous articles to promote the event to try and make amends and repair some of the damage done by Salvation Army and in particular Captain Alan Donaldson.
